The Beckwith Tavern was built in 1847 by John Wesley Fallas’ father, William Fallas. The home was sold to Charles Beckwith, who worked at the gristmill, and also used part of his house as a small tavern. Stagecoach travelers could stop here to refresh with spirits before crossing the street to the hotel. The barn behind the tavern was used to temporarily hold horses and stagecoaches. This is a private residence and not part of our museum network – please do not disturb occupants or walk on the property.
