| We have received some significant donations recently. One of which was a 1920s buggy donated by the Beattie family. The family once rode the buggy through the village to go fishing at the covered bridge. We received an exciting donation recently. The Beattie Family donated the buggy and shared that their ancestors rode it through Fallasburg Village to fish at the covered bridge. The family had it stored in an old barn in 1923 and removed it only two days before it collapsed in 2025. The buggy was purchased by the family in 1900 and remains in excellent condition for its age. The wagon was manufactured in Flint, Michigan, by Flint Wagon Works. The business began in the early 1800s and went on to be one of the most successful wagon manufacturing companies. Yet, after a long stretch of success, the company eventually succumbed to debt as the automobile became popular. It was sold to William C. Durant on October 12, 1911. Durant took over the business and transformed it into an automobile factory, naming it Little Automobiles. The name and quality of the product were off-putting to customers, so Durant put up Little into Chevrolet in 1913. GM later assumed operations, and it would eventually become Chevrolet Flint Manufacturing. |
